This Tabbed Notepad Makes Editing Multiple Files Really Easy

Notepad tabsNotepad Tabs is a text editor for Windows that has one major advantage over many other such programs. Not only can it open multiple files at once, but you can also arrange those tab windows in horizontal, vertical or tiled formats too. So if you are trying to compare different versions of files, or copy between them, or add text to one document while scanning the documentation in another window, it works really well.

Although Notepad Tabs dates from 2014 and states that it works with Windows version 8 and below, it also works perfectly well on Windows 10 according to my testing. You'll find it at and it's free. It's a 9 MB download, which is malware-free according to VirusTotal and Web of Trust.

Notepad++ is, indeed, an excellent text editor and is used regularly on our computers. The goal here, however, is to find a basic additional editor that will display the contents of multiple tabs simultaneously so that two or more files can be viewed without switching tabs. It would be useful to open two windows, drag a file into each window and exchange information between them with both files in view. Notepad Tabs does not quite make it, since it lacks drag-and-drop capability.

Notepad Tabs is almost an excellent notepad replacement. Multiple displayed tab windows is a very useful feature. The deal breaker is it lacks drag-and-drop and the number of fonts is limited. The last update was August, 2014, so it is assumed development has ceased. If anyone knows of a current text editor with multiple displayed tab windows, that information would be much appreciated.

I have used Notepad ++ for years. It does about everything a person could want with more types of files than you can ever use.

Notepad++ is an excellent text editor with tabs.

Never mind. I just saw the highlight in the text.

Is there a visible download link? If there is, I can't find it.
