Mac Attack: 100 Free Programs for Mac OS X

There's a wide variety of freeware for your Mac OS X to choose from at this site.

If you own a Mac or know someone who does, this is a great list of free programs.
Several of the programs listed are cross platform applications, meaning that they'll run on Macs, Linux and Windows. OpenOffice, IBM Lotus Symphony, GIMP, Inkscape, Jing are a few of the cross platform programs.
Some programs have a web appilcation in addition to a downloadable application, like Yoono.

The applications are nicely broken down into the following categories:

  • System Monitoring and Maintenance Tools
  • System Enhancement Tools
  • Office Suite/Word Processing/Text Editor
  • Image Viewer/Image editor
  • Software complementing iTunes
  • Productivity Tools
  • Backup and Synchronization Tools
  • Instant Messaging
  • Archiving Tools
  • Screen Capture Tools
  • Uninstaller Tools
  • Desktop Note taking app

Have fun browsing the list.
One more thing - I don't have a Mac, and I don't know enough about Mac software to sift through what's good and what's not, other than a few apps like Quicksilver. I have confidence that all of you Mac users will be able to discern what you might like or want from the list.
